Definisi Kompresi Data
Kompresi data adalah proses enkoding suatu informasi dalam data menjadi rangkaian bit yang lebih pendek daripada rangkaian bit yang diperlukan data tersebut sebelum dikompresi dengan menggunakan metode enkoding tertentu. Beberapa ekstensi file individual yang umum dijumpai sebenarnya sudah terkompresi. Misalnya file gambar: .PNG (Portable Network Graphic), .GIF (Graphic Interchange Format), .JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group); File audio dan video: .MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3), .AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) sebagai penerus MP3, dan .MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group). File-file Microsoft® Office 2007: (.DOCX, XLSX, PPTX); Memiliki kompatibilitas yang rendah, namun format-format yang baru ini memiliki kompresi yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan format-format yang lama (.DOC, .XLS, .PPT). Ketika file-file tersebut dibuka, sebenarnya program akan mendekompresinya terlebih dahulu, kemudian membaca isi file tersebut.
Sebaigan besar format file kompresi juga merangkap sebagai archiver (dapat menyimpan banyak file input ke dalam satu file output yang sudah terkompresi). Format-format file archiver yang umum dijumpai antara lain: .ZIP, .RAR, .CAB, .ISO, .NRG, .ACE, .BIN, .TAR, .GZ, .BZ2, .ARC, .7Z, dan banyak format-format lainnya. Untuk membangun file-file tersebut, biasanya digunakan sebuah perangkat lunak archiver. Ada banyak sekali perangkat lunak semacam ini, ada beberapa yang berbayar, namun tidak sedikit yang gratis. Perangkat lunak yang populer digunakan untuk membangun file-file archiver di lingkungan sistem operasi Windows™ diantaranya: IZArc, WinAce, WinRar, dan WinZip®:
ZArc disebut-sebut sebagai piranti lunak kompresi file yang mendukung paling banyak format arsip. IZArc (baca: i zi ark) juga menarik karena memiliki versi portabel, cukup disimpan dalam Flashdisk dan jalankan tanpa harus melakukan instalasi. Piranti gratisan ini tidak Open Source dan menerima dengan senang hati sumbangan dari penggunanya.

Biasanya kita dapat file berjenis image ini dari hasil download dari internet atau dari majalah yang memberikan cd yang berisi file ISO. Selain ISO ada juga file image BIN,MDF/MDS, CCD, BWT, CDI, NRG dan lainnya. File image ini merupakan gabungan dari beberapa file yang dikumpulkan menjadi satu image .cara untuk mengextract dan memburning (bakar) file – file tersebut dapat menggunakan beberapa software seperti : Alcohol 120%, Daemon tool, Nero,IZArc, WinMount, UltraISO dan masih banyak software yang dapat mengextract dan burnig file – file tersebut,

beberapa software.

Membuka image

IZArc
IZArc memiliki dukungan file yang cukup banyak. Beberapa format kompresi yang didukung oleh aplikasi ini, antara lain 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, B64, BH, BIN, BZ2, BZA, C2D, CDI, CAB, CPIO, DEB, ENC, GCA, GZ, GZA, HA, IMG, ISO, JAR, LHA, LIB, LZH, MBF, MDF, MIM, NRG, PAK, PDI, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TGZ, TZ, UUE, WAR, XXE, YZ1, Z, ZIP, dan ZOO. Sedangkan untuk melakukan kompresi aplikasi ini hanya mampu membuat beberapa format saja, seperti ZIP, 7zip, bza, tar.bz2, cab, jar, lha, tar, tar.gz, dan yzi.
Untuk keamanannya, aplikasi ini 256-bits AES encryption. IZArc juga memiliki fitur menggabungkan dua buah kompresi yang berbeda. Satu lagi, fitur dari aplikasi ini adalah dukungannya terhadap CD/DVD image seperti ISO, BIN, MDF, NRG, IMG, C2D, PDI, serta CDI.
Aplikasi ini juga mendukung fungsi ‘drag & drop’, sehingga untuk melakukan kompresi file yang diinginkan pengguna cukup men-drag file yang diinginkan, kemudian tinggal men-drop-nya di dalam aplikasi ini.
Untuk kemampuan memperbaiki kompresi yang rusak, aplikasi ini memang dapat melakukannya, namun hasilnya akan tidak maksimal jika kompresi yang ingin diperbaiki mengalami kerusakan yang sangat parah. Biasanya hal ini terjadi ketika adanya file yang corrupt.


How to compress files

Step 1: Open IZArc
Step 2: Select "New Archive" from the File menu or click on the New button. An open dialog appears.
Step 3: Select the folder where you want to create the compressed archive.
Then give a name of the archive and click Open. "Add Files" dialog will be opened.
Step 4: Select the files that you want to compress (Hold CTRL key to select more than one file).
Additionally you can select the archiving type, the level of compression and password.
Step 5: Click OK.
Step 6: Close IZArc.

How to extract files

Step 1: Select an archived file and double-click on it. If IZArc is configured correctly, it will be launched
and open your archive otherwise first open IZarc and then open the desired archived file.
Step 2: If you want to extract only few files from the archive you can select them in the file list
(Hold CTRL key to select more than one file).
Step 3: Select "Extract" from the Actions Menu or click on the Extract button.
Step 4: After Extract dialog appeared you can select the folder where your files will be extracted.
Step 5: Click Extract button.
Step 6: Close IZArc.

ow to create self-extracting archive

Step 1: Open IZArc
Step 2: Create a new archive or open an existing one.
Step 3: From the Actions menu select "Make .EXE file". A dialog appears.
Step 4: (Optional) Choose the default extract folder, caption of the self-extracting archive dialog box
and if you want you can specify a message given before the main extraction dialog shows itself.
Step 5: Click OK to create the SFX archive. After that you can test the newly created file.
Step 6: Close IZArc.

Tips: You can easily create SFX archive by right click on an archive and from the IZArc context menu select
"Create Self-Extracting (.EXE) File"
How to split large archive

Step 1: Open IZArc
Step 2: From the Tools menu select "Create Multi-Volume Set". A dialog appears.
Step 3: Select a single archive that you want to split.
Step 4: Select the location and the file name of the spanned archive that will be created.
Step 5: Specify the size to be used for the individual parts.
Step 6: Click OK.
Step 7: Close IZArc.

How to merge multi-volume ZIP archive

Step 1: Open IZArc
Step 2: From the Tools menu select "Merge Multi-Volume Set". A dialog appears.
Step 3: Select a multi-volume archive that you want to convert into single zip archive.
Step 4: Select the location and the name of the single archive.
Step 5: Click OK.
Step 6: Close IZArc.
